Melville Civic Hall

Built in the 1960s, Melville Civic Hall is a beautifully crafted community venue that has served the City of Melville and surrounding Perth suburbs for generations.

This theatre refurbishment was undertaken to provide a new home for the Melville Theatre Company and reinstate the hall as a flexible, high-performance venue.

Project Description

A new retractable seating system, demountable forestage, and full perimeter curtains allow the space to shift seamlessly between performance, rehearsal, and community events.

The original curved timber wall linings were carefully restored, while a new ceiling – faithful to the building’s signature concentric form – was engineered to support integrated lighting and sound infrastructure.

With a converted green room, custom reception and storage furniture, and a new servery & commercial kitchen, the hall is now equipped to serve as a modern, adaptable performance space for a wide range of users.

The project reflects our belief in bringing renewed life to existing buildings – balancing functionality and preservation, memory and adaptability.
